The Pocket Oxford Theatre shows are ideal for festivals that welcome children and families. Our work is contemporary, exciting, and educational, and we always present a show that can be enjoyed by children of all ages, and adults too! All of our members are well-seasoned festival performers and our shows are inspired by our extensive work on the festival and alternative cabaret scene, as well as our theatre-in-education touring. We make Shakespeare modern, fun, relevant and cool for kids, and we can perform all our shows equally well at a street festival, inside a tent or outside in a field, – the only thing we require is a power socket!
Kids love our shows because they include high levels of audience participation; incorporating song, dance, magic, drag and silliness. They are fast-paced, mad-cap extravaganzas that are noisy, colourful and very funny. They also tell Shakespeare’s stories in a way that kids find accessible and want to engage with – whilst also being educational.
For festivals and events outside the UK – The Pocket Oxford Theatre Company has seven years touring experience Europe. All our work has either been specifically created or adapted for children whose first language is not English, making it a perfect way to enjoy theatre, learn English, and introduce Shakespeare’s universal texts – all whilst maintaining the festival fun.
Our shows are usually two-handers, which last approximately one hour, but can be adapted to suit your needs.
